About this campaign
Bright Futures Gulu: Educate a Child, Transform a Generation
In the heart of Northern Uganda, in Gulu District, many children wake up each morning with dreams of becoming teachers, doctors, engineers, and leaders. Yet for hundreds of young children—especially those born to vulnerable mothers and conflict-affected families—education remains uncertain.
Poverty, single motherhood, and the long-term effects of war continue to affect families in Gulu. Many parents struggle to afford school fees, uniforms, books, and basic scholastic materials. As a result, children miss school, drop out early, or attend classes without the essential supplies needed to learn effectively.
Christine Akwero Foundation Uganda, a community-based organization working in Northern Uganda, is committed to breaking this cycle. Through our Education Pillar, we support vulnerable young mothers, girls, and children to access quality education and regain hope for the future.
Why This Campaign Matters
Primary education is more than classroom learning—it is protection, empowerment, and a pathway out of poverty. When a child stays in school:
Girls are less likely to enter early marriage
Children are protected from exploitation
Families gain hope for long-term economic stability
Communities build a stronger, educated generation
However, many children in Gulu still lack:
School uniforms
Exercise books and pens
School bags and shoes
Basic school fees contributions
Psychosocial support to overcome trauma
Without intervention, these children risk being left behind.
Our Goal
Through the Bright Futures Gulu Campaign, Christine Akwero Foundation Uganda aims to:
Support vulnerable primary school children with scholastic materials
Provide uniforms and school supplies
Support school fee contributions where necessary
Offer community-based psychosocial support to improve educational engagement
Reduce school dropout rates among vulnerable children
How You Can Make a Difference
A small contribution can change a child’s future:
$15 can provide scholastic materials for one child
$30 can provide a school uniform and shoes
$50 can support a child’s school requirements for a term
$150 can fully support a child for a school year
Every donation—large or small—brings a child closer to a brighter future.
Our Commitment
Christine Akwero Foundation Uganda works directly with community leaders, parents, and schools in Gulu District to ensure:
Transparency and accountability
Proper identification of the most vulnerable children
Monitoring of children’s attendance and progress
Community involvement in sustaining impact
We believe education is the strongest tool to heal communities affected by conflict and poverty.
