About this campaign
The Story of Phillip: From the Slums to the Streets
I grew up in the slums of Kampala, where the rhythm of daily life was often interrupted by the harsh realities of poverty and high crime rates. In my neighborhood, "opportunity" was a rare word, and for many of my friends, the streets offered a path that led to trouble rather than a future.
But I found a different tool: The spray can.
Graffiti changed my life. It wasn't just art; it was my shield. It gave me a voice when I felt unheard and, most importantly, it kept me busy. Every hour I spent sketching a design or mastering a stencil was an hour I spent away from the criminal activities that claimed so many others.
Since 2012, I have made it my mission to share this "second chance" with others.
14 Years on the Road
For over a decade, I have been a nomadic teacher. I’ve traveled to different rural communities and urban centers across Uganda, carrying my paints and my passion. I teach more than just graffiti and street art—I teach entrepreneurship.
I show these kids how to turn their creativity into a business, how to stay focused, and how to build a life they can be proud of. I’ve seen firsthand how art can divert a young person from a dangerous path and give them a sense of purpose.
The Vision: Why We Need "Graffiti House"
While traveling has allowed me to reach many, it lacks the one thing our community needs most: Stability.
The kids I teach—especially the young girls who face even greater challenges—need a place they can call home. They need a safe haven where they don't have to worry about the dangers of the neighborhood.
Graffiti House will be that home. Located in Kampala, it will be a permanent space designed to:
Provide a Safe Space: A sanctuary where kids are protected and encouraged to create.
Foster Education: Daily workshops in street art, stencil cutting, and business skills.
Document our History: A place to archive and celebrate the unique graffiti culture of Uganda, told by us.
Inspire the Next Generation: A hub where veteran artists mentor the youth, ensuring the culture grows in a positive direction.
How Your Support Changes Lives
By donating to this campaign, you aren't just helping us put up four walls. You are providing a "second chance" for the next generation of Ugandan artists. You are helping us reduce crime by giving youth a creative outlet and the entrepreneurship knowledge to sustain themselves.
Your contributions will go directly toward:
Securing a building/land in Kampala for the center.
Renovating the space into a functional art studio and library.
Stocking the house with essential supplies (cans, masks, cutting mats, and laptops).
Setting up an archive to document our local art history.

I have been teaching since 2012, and I have seen the lives we can save through art. It is finally time to stop moving and start building.
Help us build Graffiti House. Help us give the kids of Kampala a home.
